Here are three beautiful drawings made for me by a very kind professor and mentor. Found in an old notebook in a section of notes devoted to Aeschylus, Sophocles, Homer and the development of Tragedy.

He would draw a little map and as we talked, he would have me add notations to the foundation drawing. This process became a collaborative visualization of history, mythology and geography.

When I taught drawing, I always offered the techniques as a means to becoming more immersed in the present.

As I look at these maps I am transported back 20 years to those generous tutorials on music, art, literature and film.
